Body-Safe Materials Guide
Understanding body-safe materials in adult intimate products.
Medical-Grade Silicone
The gold standard. Platinum-cured silicone is hypoallergenic, non-porous, phthalate-free, and body-safe. It can be sterilized by boiling. All REAL-DOLL silicone products use medical-grade platinum silicone certified to ISO 10993 standards.
Premium TPE
Thermoplastic elastomer is body-safe when manufactured without phthalates or harmful plasticizers. It is porous, so requires thorough cleaning. Our TPE is certified phthalate-free and passes all body-safety standards. Not suitable for boiling — clean with mild soap and water only.
ABS Plastic
Used for rigid components in intimate toys. ABS is non-porous, body-safe, and easy to clean. It is phthalate-free and commonly used alongside silicone for hybrid devices.
Materials to Avoid
Jelly/PVC: contains phthalates, porous, impossible to fully clean. TPR/TPR-silicone blends: unclear composition, may contain harmful additives. "Skin-safe rubber": vague term, usually not body-safe. Always verify material certifications before purchasing any intimate product.
How to Verify
Look for: ISO 10993 certification (medical device biocompatibility), phthalate-free certification, and independent lab test results. REAL-DOLL provides material certificates for every product on request.
